Must Have Monday: Buy Local this Spring

Ah, springtime. If you live in Portland, you know exactly what I mean. Cherry blossoms fluttering, fluted tulips in citrus and berry hues. It is impossible to want to stay inside on even the rainiest, cloudy day. There are puddles to jump in, and fresh greens at the market. And best of all there is the new spring fashions to shop! And like all good Rose City dwellers, I like to shop local when I can. Buy Local is a great campaign committed to supporting local owned, independent businesses here in Portland. To do my small part, and to let you guys in on some great local designers, here is the Must Have Monday Buy Local This Spring List.

First up is Sarah Seven. I love this dress! I’m not sure about the mellow part, that yellow makes me want to sing like a canary. And the ruffles! Don’t get me started.

Katherine McConnell‘s Asher jacket is such a cute design. The Peter Pan collar alone is a must have and the beautiful coral color is one that looks good on everybody. So sweet.

Revolution of the Heart Stripe and Blue Leather Shoulder Bag

Revolution of the Heart Stripe and Blue Leather Shoulder Bag

Such a cute bag! I think with the blue and white stripes it would be a winner for summer as well, but would really go great with all the citrus colors out this spring. Revolution of the Heart has so many cute designs picking just one was tough!

Indigo Feet Tulip Skirt

I just had to have a tulip skirt on the list! Such a simply designed flower and such a simply designed skirt, yet so much fun to look at. And I really like the colors Indigo Feet chose. Perfect for a spring walk.

nJoy Design makes all their bags in oilcloth which is awesome for Portland. It is also great when you have kids for wiping up spills. And such cute designs. Check out their clutches, too.

Amy Burgess Jewelry Maybe Sparrow in Turquoise

Such a beautiful name for a neat little necklace. Amy Burgess‘ Maybe Sparrow necklace fits the season perfectly. I love the old sailor tattoo feel mixed with the romantic bead work. Very cool.

Amanda Archer Pleated Dress with pockets

Amanda Archer Pleated Dress with pockets

This dress is great. You can’t see it in the picture, but it has pockets! I love that little detail. Amanda Archer‘s pleated dress is so flattering and could be paired with a cardigan and flats for a more casual look. Gotta love all the layers if you’re going to live in Portland! Happy spring and happy shopping!

  1. Thank you for spreading the word about local designers with great Spring fashions.

I’m just so glad that I live in a city with such creative people. I remember a few years ago, when I worked in retail, the local fashion scene in Portland was pretty dismal and now it is so exciting! Thanks for being a part of that.

  2. what a great blog! I found you via “try handmade”…

  3. Thanks so much for featuring my earrings 🙂 Those are a favorite of mine for certain. http://kittencamaro.etsy.com
