I was so excited to be contacted by Heather at Shabby Apple with the opportunity to review a dress. Their women’s dresses are all gorgeous. Picking just one was brutal! But I did it and now I am the proud, and much complimented owner of Mariposa Grove.
The dress screams spring in its glorious greenness and has wonderful little details like the raw edged petals at the neckline, the exposed zipper on the back, and the spectacular vintage inspired seaming that is oh so figure flattering. I wore it today with my Miz Mooz green heals, DKNY charcoal leggings and my embroidered, batwing shrug I got from JJill so many moons ago. I’m also wearing my favorite upcycled charm bracelet that my friend Cory, of Freecycle, made. Overall, I’m really happy with the dress. It’s comfortable and lightweight enough that I can wear it all spring and into summer, too!
Shabby Apple seems like a really great company. Besides having a beautiful array of women’s dresses, maternity dresses, plus sizes, kids clothing, skirts, and jewelry/accessories, they have also partnered up with Unitus, a non-profit organization working to bring life-changing mirco-loans to the world’s working poor. Shabby Apple donates 5% of its net sales to support work in India (where many of the dresses and textiles are made) and gives their customers the opportunity to donate an extra $5 to Unitus every time she buys a dress. Shabby Apple Dresses and Unitus are involved with 10 of India’s most promising microfinance organizations that provide financial services to more than 1.6 million hard-working women and their families.
